~ Advice for preparation before a yoga class ~
- Before class begins, inform your teacher of any recent injury, illness or surgery.
- Women who are menstruating, pregnant, or lactating mothers should avoid certain postures.
- Always let the teacher know before you start a class if you fall in to any of the above categories.
- Yoga should be practised on an empty stomach, and ideally after emptying the bowels.
- Allow 1-2 hours after a light meal and 3-4 hours after a heavy one.
- Try to refrain from drinking any fluids during the yoga class. However, if you sweat a lot or are taking medication that dehydrates you (ie: antihistamines) it is fine to sip some water.
- Wear comfortable clothing when practising and remove jewellery before starting.
- Never strain, never force yourself in to a position.
- In the event of a Typhoon Signal No. 8 or a Black Rain Storm warning all classes will be cancelled.
